My New Car

Passing my driver’s licence test was seriously one of the best days of my life. I know it sounds stupid, but that little bit of extra freedom I now have is unprecedented. I love it. I love being able to go where I want, whenever I want, without having to rely on trams that never even bother sticking to their timetables.

I bought my own car recently which has only added to my newfound sense of freedom. It’s second hand (but pretty much brand new) and is actually already coming up on its first scheduled log book service. I know, it’s a little bit crazy that I’ve only had this car for a couple of weeks and it’s already due for a service, but I suppose that fact was reflected in the price. I was concerned the car service would be extremely expensive, but I was surprised to find that it doesn’t necessarily have to be. There are a number of mechanics in my area, but I ended up going for someone who is supposedly the best mechanic Moorabbin has to offer since they also happen to be the most affordable.

I called the mechanic’s shop on the phone and spoke to a really friendly guy who says he is the owner. He helped me put my details into his system so that when I bring my car into the shop I’ll be able to get the work done really quickly and efficiently. In the meantime, he says, I can use my car just the same as I am currently doing. It seems to be driving okay, with no issues that I can find myself. I might even take it on a mini road trip to the beach this weekend so I can keep getting the hang of driving without an instructor. Maybe I’ll even bring my friend, and we can make a whole fun day out of it!
